Technical FAQ

Q: How long can my batteries last?
A:
This depends on usage, and how often you turn on the LCD Screen either for composition or to playback your images. Using the flash frequently also depletes the batteries faster. To prolong battery life, minimize LCD use. Two AA battery cameras usually last up to 80 shots (with 1850 mAh NiMH), in half flash, half-no-flash context. For the best battery life, use the largest capacity batteries you can find, e.g., 2100mAh NiMH batteries.

Q: Will my memory card wear out?
A: Memory cards do have a finite lifespan but it would usually take up to a few hundred thousand read-write cycles to completely use a card to it’s full lifespan. This would mean something like taking 50 pictures everyday for about 3 years before this will happen.

Q: Can I use a third party (non-AKIRA) memory card in my AKIRA Camera?
A: Yes, but please remember to reformat the card whenever you start shooting photos.

Q: How many pictures can I store in my memory card?
A: This will depend on the Picture Quality Setting you choose. For a 16 mb card, SHQ 6, HQ 20 shots. Multiply these factors for larger memory cards. E.g., 128 mb card will give you around 48SHQ shots (6 x 8). See your manual for more details.

Q: How come my pictures turn out blurred in the “Nightscene” mode?
A: You need to use a tripod when using the “Nighscene” mode for photography. The exposure is usually so long that the camera will shake if you hold the camera in your hand in this mode. When you are using “Nightscene” + Flash, you must hold the camera very steadily (or use a tripod), and the subject must be kept still. If either party moves, there will be a camera shake problem.
