Do not block the air intake and outlet vents
This may cause a drop in performance and/ or irregular operations.
Do not insert sticks or other objects into the vents as it is dangerous to touch the electric components and the fan.
Also keep drapes and curtains away from window units.
Do not use heating appliances/ equipment in the vicinity
The air conditioner’s plastic parts may deform if exposed to excessive heat.
Do not use the air conditioner for other purposes than cooling the room
Do not use the air conditioner for other purposes such as drying clothes, preserving foods, keeping animals or cultivating vegetables.
Inspect cooling coils for frost or ice build up
If the temperature outside the room where the air conditioner is placed becomes cool, approximately 60 degrees Fahrenheit or lower, check the coils on the front of the air conditioner to be sure they are not icing up. If they are icing up, turn the air conditioner off until the temperature rises.
Don't short-cycle the cooling system
Air conditioners have a cooling system identical to a refrigerator's. It is important not to turn the unit off and then back on right away. Wait at least ten minutes after shutting the unit off to allow the pressure in the refrigeration system to equalize once again. This will prolong the life of your air conditioner.
Replace/ clean filters every month
Clean filters with dishwashing detergent, rinse thoroughly and let them dry before replacing. This allows a free airflow, reducing stress on the fan. It also keeps the coils clean, so heat can dissipate easily, leading to lower operating costs.
Do not pull the power cord
Damage to the cord may result in serious electrical shocks.
